AquaPlay IPTV · last updated 3 October 2026

AquaPlay has no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It contains no analytics or advertising SDKs; the Android app uses Google Play's billing library, to sell Premium.

What you put into the app stays on your device. The exceptions are the ones you choose: buying Premium through Google Play on Android TV, and using your phone to send things to the TV. Each is described below. On a Samsung TV, AquaPlay is free and has nothing to buy.

What the app stores, and where

AquaPlay keeps your data on the device itself, in the app's own private storage. That includes:

None of this is sent to us. There is no account and no remote backup of your data, so we cannot see it, and cannot recover it for you if it is lost.

Who your details are sent to

Your playlist credentials are sent to one place only: the IPTV provider whose address you entered. That is what makes the app work — it asks your provider for your channel list, guide and streams, exactly as you asked it to.

AquaPlay ships with no channels and no playlists, and is not affiliated with any provider. Your relationship with your provider, and their handling of your data, is between you and them — their own privacy policy applies to it, not this one.

If your playlist supplies channel logos or a programme guide hosted elsewhere, your device fetches those directly from whichever servers your provider points at. Those servers will see your IP address, as with any request your device makes.

Using your phone with the TV

On a television you can use your phone to add a playlist, to send your playlists and settings to another TV, to save a backup file, and to restore one. Scanning the code on the TV opens a page at aquaplayiptv.github.io (dolev24.github.io for versions before 1.0.30), which GitHub serves and so receives your phone's IP address. The code carries a one-time key that encrypts what is sent before it travels through ntfy.sh, a public relay, which is how it works whatever network your phone is on. The key is never sent anywhere, so neither GitHub nor the relay can read what you sent; the relay only ever holds the encrypted message. This is the same on Samsung and Android TV.

A backup file holds your playlist details, passwords included, and is saved wherever you choose on your phone or PC. Keep it private.

Premium, and donations

On Android TV, Premium is bought through Google Play, and Google handles the payment under its own privacy policy. The app asks Google Play which AquaPlay purchases your Google account holds, so Premium can be turned on. We do not receive your name, your email address or any payment details. Promo codes are redeemed in Google Play.

On a Samsung TV, AquaPlay is free, with nothing to buy. Settings has a Support AquaPlay page showing a code that opens AquaPlay's page on Ko-fi on your phone, where you can leave a donation if you want to. The TV itself never contacts Ko-fi. A donation is handled by Ko-fi and its payment providers under their own privacy policies, and we see only what Ko-fi shows any creator about a supporter.

On a PC there is nothing to buy.

Checking for a newer version

On a Samsung TV, once a day, AquaPlay asks GitHub which version of it is the newest (api.github.com, about the public AquaPlayIPTV/aquaplay-samsung repository), so it can tell you when an update is out. The request carries nothing about you, your playlists or what you watch; GitHub sees your TV's IP address, as any website would, under its own privacy policy. You can turn it off in Settings → Advanced → Check for new versions. On Android TV, Google Play takes care of updates, and the app asks nothing.

AquaPlay contacts no servers other than the ones described on this page.

Permissions

The Android TV app requests these permissions:

On a Samsung TV, the app uses only the permissions to use the network, play video, and read the remote.

AquaPlay does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, files outside its own storage, or accounts, and does not use the advertising identifier.

Children

AquaPlay is a general-purpose media player and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age. The channels available in it are determined entirely by the playlist you supply; the app includes a parental PIN and channel locks.

Removing your data

You remove everything stored on the device by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app; on Android TV that includes recordings in the app's storage. On Android TV that is Settings → Apps → AquaPlay → Clear data. Within the app, removing a playlist deletes its stored credentials immediately. Recordings made on a PC stay in the folder you chose until you delete them.

Premium bought through Google Play belongs to your Google account; you manage or cancel a subscription in Google Play, under Payments & subscriptions.
